WHYFC Announces 4th Annual Players Luncheon Speaker

Wilmington, NC - WHYFC is excited to announce their 4th Annual Spring Players Luncheon, scheduled for April 5th, 12pm at Cape Fear Country Club. Proceeds go directly toward fees and expenses that come with participating in the club.

"Each year WHYFC award over $30,000 in need-based aid and this luncheon is an important contributor to this fundraising goal," Executive Director Carson Porter said.  "Our goal is to never turn a player away because of finances and this luncheon plays a big part in achieving this goal."

This years luncheon features U17 Men’s National Team Head Coach, John Hackworth.  Hackworth will share thoughts and observations on leadership, team/business culture, and beyond.

Hackworth joins an esteemed list of speakers who include Olympic Gold Medalist, Heather O’Reilly, and National Champion Coach, Anson Dorrance. 

John Hackworth is one of the most well-known soccer coaches in the United States. Hackworth took over US Soccer U-17 National Team in 2005 and was tasked to identify and develop future stars of US Soccer. He would guide the US U-17 Men's National Team to the 2005 and 2007 World Cups and would play a key role in developing future stars such as Landon Donovan, Oguchi Onyewu and current US Men's National Team Captain, Michael Bradley. Hackworth joined the professional ranks when he was appointed the Philadelphia Union (MLS) Head Coach in 2012 after his time in Philadelphia, Hackworth returned to the role of Head Coach of the US U-17 Men's National Coach in 2015 and in 2017 lead the group to his third World Cup. His reputation is that of a sharp-minded, forward thinking coach that players love to play for.
