Veteran coach and club leader will help coaches and teams throughout the club

Long serving WHYFC coach Craig Johnson has taken on a new role with the club entering the fall, 2020 season.  Johnson will take his USSF ‘A’ License, his 20+ years of experience as a coach, and his passion for the players, the sport, and the club, into the new role of WHYFC Team Advisor.

In this role, Johnson will work with Hammerhead teams and coaches in their practice environments.  Johnson’s role will vary with each team he works with, but it will all focus on help and improvement.  He will observe practices, he will coach practices, he will provide feedback to the coaches, give new thoughts and ideas, anything that he thinks can help and inject energy into a team culture.

“CJ is loved in this club, he makes a huge impact on each player, team, and coach that he works with.  To have an expert come into a team environment and provide feedback and input – and do it in a respectful and fun way - is something that all of us want, need, and will get better as a result of.  We are lucky to have him and to add this role into our club,” said Executive Director, Carson Porter.

“I have really enjoyed my start in this new role.  To be able to share experiences and lessons learned with our coaching staff and players has been very satisfying, but the most fulfilling part of this role to date has been how much I’m learning from them.  Sometimes it’s the activity itself or their knowledge of the game, but most times it’s how they interact, communicate and or motivate their players.  There are really good coaches and teams throughout this club and I am excited to help in any way I can.”
