NCYSA Classic Coaches

Coach Hunter Daughtridge

Hunter has coached with the Hammerheads since 2013, coaching the youngest teams in the Juniors program all the way up to Juniors in high school. Hunter feels that seeing growth in players ability while growing their love for the game is the most rewarding part of coaching. He loves the Hammerheads and feels great pride seeing the ways that the club has made great strides over the last decade.

He is originally from Rocky Mount, NC and moved down to Wilmington in 2010 to attend UNC Wilmington. Hunter is a fan of Tottenham Hotspur and Houston Dynamo. When not coaching, Hunter is a big movie buff, enjoys spending time at the Beach with his Wife and walking or playing with his two dogs, Chadli and Sebastian.

Coach Chadwick Lack

Chadwick is now in his 7th year with the club.  He currently holds a USSF C License and is always looking to grow and expand his coaching knowledge and skills.  He loves studying the game and how it is constantly evolving.  Chadwick is a passionate life long Crystal Palace supporter, he loves the magic of the FA Cup, and when he isn't coaching he enjoys competing in the local adult leagues.

Coach Madison Grubb

Maddie grew up playing in the Raleigh area with CASL (now NCFC) with the top 5 nationally ranked 94’ CASL Black team.  Maddie was a member of the NC ODP Regional Team and USL National Pool Team.  After graduating high school Maddie played collegiately at NCAA Division I (top 25 ranked) University of Central Florida my freshman and sophomore year and NCAA Division 1 Sam Houston State University Junior and Senior Year.  Maddie served as a captain my senior year at Sam Houston.  She was on the American Conference All-Academic Team my Freshman and Sophomore year, and Southland Conference All-Academic Team my junior and senior year.  After college graduation, Maddie played a year of professional soccer in the Icelandic Pepsi League with UMF Tindastol, before hanging up my playing boots.  Maddie landed in Wilmington looking for someplace warm and at a beach after Iceland!  Maddie resides in the Wilmington area with my husband and 2 toddler boys (have my fingers crossed for little soccer stars).  Maddie started coaching with the Wilmington Hammerheads in the fall of 2024.  Maddie wants to inspire the next generation of players and give back to the game that changed my life in so many ways.

Coach Paul Stavovy

Paul has played soccer for over 40 years – recreationally, competitively, and through college at the University of Limerick, Ireland (where I studied abroad) and Allegheny College (where I also played Rugby and Lacrosse). I love this game, and it is a huge part of my life – I still play on multiple teams, coach a few, and am a major fan. I hope to share my love of the Beautiful Game with all of your kids. Outside of soccer, Paul owns and run a Remodeling Firm, am the Executive Director of Cape Fear Community Land Trust (a local affordable housing nonprofit), and is an avid surfer, snowboarder, climber, backpacker, boater, musician, yogi, woodworker, gardener, and chef. A Masters Degree in Public Administration and am an appointee by the City to the Workforce Housing Advisory Board. Paul believes that “the greatest part of sports are the life lessons we gain from it: courage, determination, dealing with adversity, teamwork, confidence, and managing the moments that you are given, because that is what it is all about – the moments that you have control over, which is often not the score. Soccer is about what is going on in your head and what you give on the pitch in your moments, and that is why I coach and what I hope to impart on the players.”
